The Tempest: Oxford School Shakespeare

There is much to recommend this: (i) the typography and overall layout makes the text supremely accessible; (ii) the use of illustrations and photographs enhances rather than detracts from the text; (iii) there are a wealth of additional resources within the publication; (iv) it easily sits within a student's backpack; (v) it is very affordable. The pointers on how to approach essays and/or exam questions concerning this play stand the test of time. The notes for teachers are equally useful for the student. The inclusion of the musical score for songs within the play is, for me, the only issue with this publication, as it fails to add significantly to understanding.

I bought this edition of the Tempest for my English GCSEs, and so far I have found it very helpful to my studies. The edition contains the complete text of the play and thorough notes on the language alongside the text- an absolute must if you want to have a good understanding of the play as a young student. You can refer to the list of main characters to erase any confusion, and there are thorough introductions to each scene at the beginning, perfect for gaining an overview of every part of the play. If you're studying The Tempest, this edition is great for you as the notes and summary will be of enormous help to gaining a deep and comprehensive understanding of the play.

Good clear book with text to help understand story. Easier for kids to understand.

Good item with "translation" of Shakespeare 's English into today' s English. Makes it easier to understand the text which in turn makes it easier to remember, analyse for homework... Quite compact so fits neatly in student bag too. It is the 2nd book bought in this collection and definitely worth having.

This has been an excellent, accessible version of the play for both myself and to use with pupils. The glossary is non-intrusive as it's located on the left hand side, in line with the word being translated, so their is minimal "Miss what does ____ mean?" Lovely abridged scene summaries are also included at the start of each new scene, which is very useful for those pupils who get a little overwhelmed by Shakespeare's language or those who are prone to giving up before even starting. A worthwhile investment, I cannot rate Oxford School editions highly enough.

I do not think that you can beat these editions of the plays because the text is clearly set out, in quite large print, and brief notes and explanations typed on the same page as the text, so that it saves the hassle of turning to the back pages when required. The introductions about setting, plot, and character are so useful for exam work. I now have about six of these plays in the same series, and I cannot fault them. The newer editions also give ideas for pupils' assignments for better understanding.

I have the Oxford School Shakespeare editions of Macbeth and The Tempest, and both are excellent. The annotations are clear and easy to understand, and I appreciate how they're printed right next to the original text instead of at the bottom of the page or in an appendix. I hope they eventually expand this series to include even more Shakespeare titles, because these are my favorite editions!

This copy of The Tempest is great for making notes as it has loads of space on the pages and next to the text. The paper isn't silky so your highlighters and pens won't smudge.

Parti mancanti e note alla fine. Sono felice do averlo rivenduto

Too many handwritten notes

I usually use 3-5 different editions in studying a script prior to performance. And this is one of my two favorites, Arden being the other.

Easy to read
