Big

I love this book and the 5th and 6th grade students really liked it too when I read it to them. The illustrations are beautiful and creative and it has a great message about how our words can affect other people and how to not accept unkind things said about you. I highly recommend!

Cute book. Good read for any kids with issues being "big". Pretty illustrations but a little difficult for a small child to follow, especially when they want to read the words. Good storytelling. Be aware: Barely has any words in it. Multiple pages only have a picture of the character. This book is very "artsy" and symbolic just to give you an idea, which although some people may find off-putting or whatever it is a good book to have an open discussion with your kids. Ex: My 4yo initially found this book to be a bit confusing and took some of the images a bit too literally, but is still a favorite in our book rotation. Would recommend.

What a great story for all ages. I gave this as a gift to all the members of my extended family whose birthdays are in the same month as mine. (This is how I get around the problem of buying dozens of gifts.) They all enjoyed the book over and over. It takes a couple repeat readings to really digest it. The story and the feelings are so well illustrated and the taunts, the shame, the naive remarks that hurt, it's all there. It's very powerful and it all comes out in the end. The main character learns how to stand up for herself. It's a triumph! When you read this book, you learn COMPASSION!

As a parent of an 8-year-old daughter navigating the complexities of anxiety and self-image, finding resources that resonate with her experiences has been paramount. This book, 'Big', has been a revelation for us. Its thoughtful narrative eloquently articulates the emotions and challenges she faces in various settings, offering her a sense of understanding and empowerment. Witnessing her identification with the protagonist's journey has been truly heartening; it's as if the book has given her a voice to express herself. For any parent seeking literature that addresses themes of self-image, self-esteem, and anxiety with sensitivity and insight, 'Big' is an invaluable addition to your library. It's a book that not only speaks to our children's experiences but also fosters important conversations about mental health and resilience.

This is a beautiful book, a must-read for all children (and adults!) The story is sweet and empathy-building and the illustrations are beautiful. I'll definitely purchase this book again as a gift for friends' children.

This book made multiple grown adults cry. The message hits home, regardless of your age. Would highly, highly recommend.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this book but wish it came with the medal.

What a beautiful story with stunning illustrations! I must say though, It did make me cry. I saw the writer interviewed on The Daily Show and was intrigued. The story is so moving, and sadly, so true for many children who are larger in size and who often feel the negative looks and comments from our judgmental society. But the story offers a very positive message of finding self love and strength to end. I will definitely be giving this book as a gift to parents to read to their children. This copy, I am keeping for myself.

Lindíssimo livro, personagem cheia de sensibilidade e uma linguagem visual moderna, com ousadia na apresentação dos elementos gráficos.

My husband saw this on the daily show and asked me to order it. I had no idea what it was about but read it when it got delivered. It is one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read. I cried. I will be reading this book to my newborn daughter for years to come and reinforcing its message over and over. I never expected a children’s book to make me feel so seen. Artwork is also beautiful and clever.

This book felt like a hug to my inner child - I bought it for myself and brought me to tears. The story is very close to my heart. The illustrations are beautiful and all the details are incredible. I would absolutely recommend.
