Great Portable CD Player
Love this little CD player! The sound quality is amazing. The sound is so much richer than music streaming apps. It uses regular AA batteries with 5 hour life. I would buy again and recommend highly to others.

Excellent CD Player, Very Well Designed
I have owned Sony and Panasonic CD Players ever since I started collecting CD's. The Oakcastle Player is at least equal to them and in simplicity of use exceeds the Sony CD Players I have owned. It gives you the basic controls you need without all the fancy extras which are add on's that often stop working. My house is littered with electronic devices that no longer work. They were expensive with all the frills and did everything but make toast for you. Oakcastle customer's refer to this as a "retro" CD Player, I call it an excellent CD Player that does exactly what it should do, which is to simply read the CD and play it back at a high quality consistently with simple controls. If you like all the fancy frills and electronic add on's that other CD Players give you then this unit may not be for you, but if your looking for a simple CD Player that has excellent playback sound with simple intuitive controls at a reasonable price, this unit is for you. .

Not bad seen worse
Better then most CD players for the price. Bass Boost is as expected and the display does not light up. But over all its worth the price.

Good CD player
This CD player is worth the money. Has clear sound on battery or plugged in. Bass boost switch is nice. Not as good as my old player but works well. Muddys the sound a bit. The feel of the player is cheap, it feels fragile. It has held up so far though. The anti-skip works wonderfully. It is worth the price just for that. Overall a good cd player. Worth the price. It might not feel like quality on the outside but the parts inside leave little to be desired. Much better than my old player from 2005.

Great Item, Broken Controls
Great Sound Quality, but controls will have stages. First the skip and pause won’t work so you have to listen to the entire cd before hearing the song you want. Then a couple days later everything will be fine and working. Make sure to have plenty of AA batteries cause this Walkman is a battery guzzler. You can listen to it for three hours before you need new batteries. You have to put in the batteries exactly right. This product is great, other than not working half the time. Make sure to buy a good cd, because your going to be listening to it all half the time

Works quite well
I love this product sm!! I was looking for a good but small cd player so I could pack it nicely, and this fit’s that perfectly. It’s nice and light and comes with a ton of options for how you can listen. My preference is through headphones. Audio quality is good, not specifically notable but I don’t have complaints :)

Complete Failure
What a hunk of junk! This unit operated properly for all of 24 hours. Second day of use, any CD I try to play is interrupted with constant skipping. I am a musician and recording engineer and producer and I take fastidious care of all my equipment, including any recorded music, such as CD's, vinyl, and cassette tape. I was looking for a suitable replacement for an MP3 player that finally gave up. The sound of this unit is passable and the features are fairly standard for a portable player. I can't explain why it fails to play the simplest of CDs (factory industry standard, by the way). I I'll chalk this up as a minimal waste of money, but rest assured, I will never purchase another item from this company.

Just as good as…You have to use the adapter to get the lcd backlight!
Update #3 I’m guessing it’s just like the early 90s cd players with backlight, you have to use an Ac adapter for that effect . I haven’t tried it, but I’m pretty sure that’s what makes it work. Update: Cd player is still going strong, and is awesome. I did tinkering around with other headphones, ear pads ect; I found out the Panasonic RP-ht21 headphones combined with Yaxi ear pads, really brings out a warm, balanced soundstage. As stated before, with this setup it can stand against the Fiio dm13 cd player, and I can get 6 of these cd players for the price of one the Dm13…. I will say these go perfect with the “ ARTTI R3 earbuds”. The sound quality of this portable cd player with them is perfect clarity! Tho, I haven’t used the included earbuds, so I can’t speak on how they sound. But other than that, this was well worth it. It’s almost right up there with my Fiios Dm13 portable cd player to be honest. You can’t go wrong with this cd player!

If you are looking for a portable CD player, this is the one you need. Let me explain why. I have purchased this product myself, having been asked to review the portable CD player by Oakcastle. I will be perfectly honest with my review and not let their request sway my judgement. I will be perfectly honest, when asked to review this product, a portable CD player, my first thought was why; why has this product been brought out? After all, aren’t we all using streaming services these days? Then I thought of the sheer volume of CD’s I own that will never be found on a streaming service, such as ‘fan club’ CD’s, CD’s by small artists with local appeal, and the like. Firstly, I had limited expectations. After all, it’s £26.95, (at the time of writing), but at the time I purchased it there was a further 25% discount. Cheap and cheerful, or so I thought. First impressions, upon opening the packaging, was how incredibly well packed it was. I have received items costing ten times as much not so well packaged. For the price you get the portable CD player, (obviously!) a set of headphones, a 3.5mm jack lead to plug into a portable speaker, and a remote for the headphones to allow skipping tracks, pausing and so on without having to use the small buttons on the unit itself. Secondly, this device has multiple ways of powering it. You can use two AA batteries, (a set are supplied), you can use the supplied USB lead plugged into a USB adapter in a wall socket, into a power pack, or plugged into the USB port of a laptop or PC. It can also be used as car CD player, most cars have a USB port for power these days, but don’t have a CD player! Moving onto the sound quality; I tried the supplied headphones first. I have to say, I was surprised. It may not be Bang and Olufsen quality, but it is a tiny fraction of the price. The sound was good, and not at all tinny, as I had expected. I was listening to a solo guitarist, (video attached) and the sound was clear and crisp. I added the bass boost, and although I could tell the difference, for this music it really wasn’t required. I then tried the CD player with a set of my own Sennheiser wired headphones, and then this machine came into its own. With a pair of good quality headphones, the sound had a warmth, and richness that belies the price tag. I have tried a wide range of music with the CD player, from rock, rock and roll, singer/songwriter, solo guitar, pop, and even classical. All the different genres sounded excellent; the classical music, when paired to a portable speaker, had a clarity which was completely beyond my expectations. The portable CD player can also be used in a variety of modes, you can play tracks randomly, repeat a track, repeat the CD, and even intro mode, which plays the first ten seconds of each track to help find a particular song you may wish to listen to. I have used it whilst walking round the house and garden; there were no issues at all. A sliding hold button stops the other buttons being caught accidentally whilst the unit is in a bag or a pocket. Oakcastle are a company that clearly take a pride in their products. And so they should; I cannot recommend this highly enough. Anyone looking for a portable CD player for use in a car, caravan, whilst walking etc will not be disappointed. The sound quality is excellent, particularly when paired with a good quality speaker or headphones. It has every feature you will look for, and more besides. If you register the product with Oakcastle they will extend the warranty to three years. Buy it – you can’t go wrong.
