The one-dollar Silver Certificate was only made in two years, 1935 and 1957. Each of these one-dollar Crisp Uncirculated Silver Certificate notes was redeemable for one-ounce silver at any US Bank, but on June 24, 1968 the US Treasury stopped the practice of redeeming certificates with 1 ounce of silver. 1928 marks the release of the first small size currency (all prior issues were much larger in size). The 1928 "Funny Back" one-dollar note is called this for the reverse design on this short lived series was very plain and this note is affectionately referred to as "funny back" notes because they resemble play money!
